*12U PARENTS, TAKE NOTE: Because of the nice weather, the Friday night 12U open gym is being moved from the Boro to the Blandon Fire Company.  12U practice will be outside!  Woo hooo!

10:30-Noon - 8U (7th/8th Grade gym)

I need a volunteer parent or 2 to sit at the entrance of the gym, and receive registration forms, and hand out Lotto calendars.

FGSA MONTHLY MEETING = THU 3/10
===================================================================================

The next FGSA Monthly Meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, 3/10, 7pm, at the Keystone Villa (conference just to the left of the front entrance.)

All Spring teams must have at least 1 representative in attendance.  This is especially important this month since it's the last meeting prior to the 3/17 scheduling melee.

Parents are encouraged to attend.  Please come help shape the future of the FGSA!

(Minutes from the February meeting are attached to this email.)

FGSA NIGHT AT RAWLINGS = MON 3/14
===================================================================================
Don't forget!  Rawlings Sporting Goods is partnering with FGSA for a special night on Mon 3/14 from 5-9pm at their store on 801 Hill Avenue in Wyomissing (Vanity Fair Outlets).

For those 4 hours Rawlings is offering anyone from FGSA 10% off your entire purchase of anything in the store.

MS/HS SOFTBALL PARENTS MEETING = FRI 3/11
===================================================================================
For girls who are signed up to play softball for the school this Spring, the High School and Middle School coaching staff will be having a PARENTS MEETING this Friday, 3/11 @ 5:30pm in the High School cafeteria. Please attend if at all possible.

BATTING HELMETS - FACEMASKS REQUIRED
===================================================================================
I was asked about the requirement for facemasks on batting helmets at 8U.  The American Softball Association (ASA) under which we are governed, requires batting helmets to have a facemask regardless of age.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
===================================================================================

DON'T DEFINE SUCCESS AND FAILURE IN TERMS OF WINNING AND LOSING.  One of the main purposes of the youth sports experience is skill acquisition and mastery. When a child performs to their potential and loses, it is criminal to focus on the outcome and become critical. If a child plays their very best and loses, you need to help them feel like a winner. Similarly, when a child or team performs far below their potential but wins, this is not cause to feel like a winner. Help your child make this important separation between success and failure and winning and losing. Remember, if you define success and failure in terms of winning and losing, you're playing a losing game with your child.

REGISTRATION
===================================================================================

Our soft "deadline" has passed.  However, if you're late or your daughter just hasn't decided yet, you are by no means locked out.  We do NOT turn anyone away ever.  However, anyone who HAS decided to play but just hasn't gotten the registration forms in yet, please do so soon so that we can get an accurate head-count, and so that we can place our uniform order.

Here's who I believe is playing based on registrations (and those who say registration is coming)...
