Thu 4/07, 7pm, at the Keystone Villa is the next FGSA Monthly meeting.  Each Spring team MUST have at least 1 representative at this meeting!  All Parents are encouraged to attend.  Come help shape the future of the FGSA!

Attached are the minutes from the March meeting!
The Fleetwood High School Varsity team will be playing games at the Blandon Fire Co. on April 18th starting at 7pm. This game is the annual “Strike-Out Cancer Fundraiser."
Additionally HS JV team will be making up a rain-out prior to the varsity game starting at 5pm.  The Varsity game will follow immediately afterwards. So come on out for a full night of Fleetwood Softball!

Note that we have decided to only send out checks about 2x/month.  The reason for this is that we set up our account to require a signature from TWO board members for it to be valid.  So this way Keith doesn't have to drive over to my house every single time we have a winner.
Here are the results so far...
4/01 = 330 = Hayli Negri ($40)
4/02 = 256 = (no winner)
4/03 = 806 = (no winner)
4/04 = 864 = (no winner)
4/05 = 721 = (no winner)
4/06 = 108 = Avalon Timochenko ($40)
4/07 = 352 = (no winner)
4/08 = 190 = (no winner)
4/09 = 041 = (no winner)
4/10 = 447 = (no winner)
4/11 = 925 = (no winner)
4/12 = 005 = Emily Miller ($40)

A survey was sent out to parents of all of the girls registered for 15U this summer about the possibility of purchasing new uniforms.  The overwhelming majority of people voted YES to the idea, so that is the way we have decided to go.  The order was placed a couple weeks ago so they arrive around mid-May.  Jerseys will include each girl's last name on the back.  (No nicknames.)

We also voted on Sleeves vs. Sleeve-LESS.  Sleeves was about 65% of the vote so we are getting sleeves.

The jerseys are what they call "sublimated" so logos, numbers and names are NOT sewed into the jersey.  Everything is part of the material which makes them very lightweight which is good since the core of our season is in the middle of summer.

REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM IN ALL OF YOUR INTERACTIONS. Athletes of all ages and levels perform in direct relationship to how they feel about themselves. When your child is in an athletic environment that boosts self-esteem, she will learn faster, enjoy themselves more and perform better under competitive pressure. One thing we all want as children and never stop wanting is to be loved and accepted, and to have our parents feel good about what we do. This is how self-esteem gets established. When your interactions with your child make them feel good about themselves, they will, in turn, learn to treat themselves this very same way. This does not mean that you have to incongruently compliment your child for a great effort after they have just performed miserably. In this situation being empathic and sensitive to her feelings is what's called for. Self esteem makes the world go round. Make your child feel good about themselves and you've given them a gift that lasts a lifetime. Do not interact with your child in a way that assaults their self-esteem by degrading, embarrassing or humiliating them. If you continually put your child down or minimize their accomplishments not only will they learn to do this to themselves throughout their life, but they will also repeat your mistake with their children.
