FGSA Newsletter, 3/14/2013

March 15, 2013
Hard to believe Spring has almost sprung.  This weekend will be the 3rd to last Open Gym.

8U and 10U girls will be in the 5th/6th Grade Gym, 9am-10:30am.
12U and 14U girls will be in the 7th/8th Grade Gym at 9am-10:30am.
Pitchers/Catchers of all ages will then be in the 5th/6th Grade Gym @ 10:30am.

And parents should take the time to check in at our Information Desk to verify the following information...

> Have you picked up your Lotto Calendars?
> Have you paid for your Lotto Calendars?
> Have you submitted your daughter's birth certificate?
> Have you submitted your Criminal Record and Child Abuse Clearances?
> Are you going to the Reading Phillies game?  How many tickets do you want?
> Have you paid for your Reading Phillies tickets?
> AND UNIFORMS...

(2) UNIFORMS

Uniforms have arrived!  If you haven't picked them up yet, you should come to one of the next 3 open gyms to do so.  Note that if you owe money, you will NOT be allowed to take your uniform until all payments are made.

(3) HAIR TIED BACK DURING OPEN GYMS

It was suggested at the monthly meeting this week that girls have their hair tied back so it stays out of their eyes during practice.  That will eliminate the chance of a girl's hair obstructing her field of vision just as she's about to field or catch a ball.

(4) PHOTOGRAPHY

At the most recent league meeting we discussed the use of a professional photographer.  What we suggested was that parents simply take lots of pictures, give them to us and we'll distribute ALL of the pictures taken to everyone on a disc, and you can print what you want.

The downside to the professional photographer is simply making all of the arrangements (and the high price of the pictures.)  However, we understand that some people may like having the professional pictures and the ability to order things like baseball cards.  If anyone feels strongly about having the professional photographer, we can still do it, but we'd need someone to then be head of the FGSA "Photography Committee" and make all of the arrangements to have Pittman be there for pictures for all 7 teams.

We will vote officially at the next FGSA league meeting in April, so if you have a strong opinion about this, that would be the time to voice it.

(5) OFFICIAL ROSTERS

We like to have all of the rosters finalized by the end of next week (3/22).  So for 10U and 12U, we should be able to tell you who your daughter's coaches and team-mates are very soon.

(6) 31

Jen Schroeder, one of our 10U coaches, has offered to spearhead a "31" fund raising effort where profits on the sale of "31" products will all go towards the FGSA.  More news to follow soon on what products will be available and how you can purchase them!

(7) AMAZON.COM

Our FGSA Webmaster has set up our website, FleetwoodGirlsSoftball.org, so that if you go to Amazon.com through our site, a small portion of the purchase will go to the FGSA!  How cool is that?!  Not only that, but the FGSA has our own store on Amazon now!  CHECK IT OUT at http://astore.amazon.com/fleetgirlssof-20!  Remember that when you need softball or baseball equipment of any kind.  Buy it through Amazon...and $$$ will go to the FGSA.  Cha-ching!
