FGSA BUS TRIP TO THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
We are going to have a FGSA bus trip to see the Philadelphia Phillies on Sat 9/13, 7:05pm game time. There are two options. I'm trying to figure out which would generate the most interest. Since I will personally be paying for this event up-front and then recovering my money as people sign up, I want to be sure that we will fill the bus so that I don't lose money paying for empty seats.

OPTION #1 - Gold Glove Tours. $79 per person. Includes the fancy 52-person bus that will pick us up at the Blandon Fire Co, and return us to the same place. Will be decent seats. PLUS it will include a pre-game cook-out tailgate. The tour service will provide 2 cooks that will cook food for everyone.

OPTION #2 - Bieber Bus rental for $20 per person (54 seat bus) + the cost of tickets would be (I'm guessing) about $25 each = Total cost of about $45 (plus you don't get food as part of the ticket as you would with Option #1). I would have to purchase a block of seats for the entire group. Because the season has already started, finding seats for 54 people all in the same area would mean we'd be sitting in the "nose bleeds." This also obviously does not include the tail-gate food, so you'd either have to bring a hoagie or buy food at the stadium ($$$).

Please take the survey so we can decide which option to chose!

KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY INVITE - DATE CHANGE TO 4/25 - DON'T FORGET!
Judy Lawes, Kutztown U head coach, has extended an invitation for any players in Berks County to attend a KU home game on Friday, April 25th.  After the game, the KU players will interact with all of the younger players doing skills and drills with them.  This is a double-header for them starting at 2pm.  Obviously you don't have to attend both games or even all of one game.  Both games should be over around 5-5:30-ish.  With daylight savings, that should be enough time for a little interaction.

This could be a fun opportunity for girls to see what real high-speed college softball looks like.

BERKS CATHOLIC HS VS. FLEETWOOD HS VARSITY SOFTBALL GAME @ BFC - WED 4/23
The Berks Catholic at Fleetwood varsity softball game on Wednesday 4/23 will be played at the Blandon Fire Company field at 7 PM. Good opportunity for our girls to check out what HS Softball looks like.

TEAM PICTURE TAKING DAY
Team pictures will be held on Saturday 5/3 during opening day at Blandon Fire Company. The picture schedule is below. Please share the time for your respective teams with the parents. They should plan on arriving 15 minutes prior to the team’s picture time. I will be sending out a link to all parents which will allow them to purchase their packages in advance online. This is a fundraiser for FGSA! The more packages that are sold, the more cash is returned to FGSA!

12UB TOURNAMENT HOSTED BY FGSA IN FLEETWOOD
As you a probably aware, the FGSA has decided to take on the hosting of a tournament at the 12B level this year which, if it is a success, we hope to make an annual event. I'm sending this to parents of all teams (1) because we need as much help as we can get, and (2) many of our 10U girls will move up to 12B eventually and, when that happens, you're going to want help too!

There are 9 Berks County teams that have entered this event. NINE! While that exceeds our expectations, that also puts the pressure on for us not to mess this up.

The date of the tournament is Sat 5/17 and Sun 5/18. Less than 1 month away, so we don't have much time to pull together the last minute details.

Here are the things I need volunteers for...

SATURDAY FIELD MAINTENANCE & SITE COORDINATION (6 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED)
We're going to be using both the High School Field AND the Blandon field on both days. On Sat 5/17, there will be games as there is daylight at the HS field (last game will start at 4:45pm), and all day AND all night at Blandon (last game will start at 8:15pm). Ideally we'd have (6) people for this...

> (2) people to prep the HS Field for the first game at 8am, and then stay until 1:15 to touch it up between games. And to handle any issues that might come up during games.

> (2) people to keep the HS Field in good order from 1:15 thru 6:45 (end of the last game). And to handle any issues that might come up during that time.

> (1) person to prep the BFC Field for the first game at 8am, and then stay until 3pm to touch it up between games. And to handle any issues that might come up during that time.

> (1) person to keep the BFC Field in good order from 3:00pm thru 10:15pm (end of the last game). And to handle any issues that might come up during that time.

SUNDAY FIELD MAINTENANCE & SITE COORDINATION (3 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED)
We're going to be using both the High School Field AND the Blandon field on both days. On Sat 5/17, there will be games at both fields for as long as there is daylight at the HS field, and all day AND all night at Blandon (last game will start at 8:15pm). Ideally we'd have (3) or more people for this...

> (1) person to prep the HS Field for the first game at 9am, and then stay until 1:00pm (end of the last game at the HS field) to touch it up between games. And to handle any issues that might come up during games.

> (1) person to prep the BFC Field for the first game at 9am, and then stay until 3pm to touch it up between games. And to handle any issues that might come up during that time.

> (1) person to keep the BFC Field in good order from 3:00pm thru 9:00pm (end of the championship game). And to handle any issues that might come up during that time.

CONCESSION STAND HELP (14 VOLUNTEERS)
There will be (8) games at the BFC field on Saturday (8am9:45am11:30am1:15am3pm4:45pm6:30pm and 8:15pm), and (6) on Sunday (9am11am1pm3pm5pm and 7pm). We should have (2) people to be in the concession stand during those times. If each pair of people would do 2 games, that would be 14 volunteers. If you want to do MORE than 2 games, even better!

CONCESSIONS AT THE HS FIELD
We may have waited too long to think about this. I do NOT want to set up our own food service at the HS Field because that would just require even MORE volunteers. What I'd like is some company that can come and set up a food stand and do all of the work. At this point, I don't even care if we make any money off of it. I called Muddy's and they are having permitting issues and won't be back in business by then, so they can't help. I called Rita's in Blandon, and they are already booked for that weekend.

Does anyone know of a caterer or food truck business or ice cream truck business or both that might be available that weekend. If so can you call them ASAP and see if they are available?

MAPS TO FIELD - Is there anyone that can put (3) maps together with directions? We need 1 maps showing where the HS Field is, and where people should go to park. We need another map showing where the BFC Field and where people should park (beyond LF fence!). And a 3rd Map that gives directions to and from the two different fields.

TOURNAMENT BRACKET BOARD
Does anyone have a son or daughter who would want to make up a big tournament bracket board that we can keep on display at the BFC field on Sunday?

So we need at most (23) volunteers. If you people do double-duty on anything, we'd need less. But that's a LOT of help that will be needed for this to run smoothly. HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!

FGSA NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
Last year we also launched our 1st Annual FGSA Night at the Movies where we played "A League of Their Own" right on our own field under the stars the weekend before school started.  The date of Saturday, 8/23 has been officially booked!  Mark your calendars!
