Newsletter for January 28, 2014

The 4th Open Gym of 2014 will be this Saturday, 2/01:
8am to 10:00am - 8U/10U in 7/8-Grade Gym
9am to 10:30am - 12U/14U in 5/6-Grade Gym
10:30am to Noon - Pitchers & Catchers, all age groups in 5/6-Grade Gym
AGAIN PLEASE NOTE THE ODD START TIME FOR THE 8U/10U KIDS.  Sorry about that.  It is the only time the 5/6-Grade gym was available this week.  (And unlike last time, we verified that it really is being used by others at10am.) That also means that any 8U/10U pitchers and catchers will have to wait 30 minutes until the pitching/catching practice starts at 10:30!
Everyone must enter the building near the 5/6-grade gym.
Future Open Gym dates:  2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/15, 3/22.
The registration deadline of 1/24 has passed.  However, as always, this is a very "soft" deadline which is needed so that we can get a good idea of how many uniforms we need to order, and get them in time for the season.  We also need to know roughly how many girls we have at each level so we can register the correct # of teams with the Berks County Girls Softball League.  To make a long story short, we do NOT turn anyone away no matter how late you are in registering.
If you haven't registered yet, but your daughter does plan on playing, please get us your info ASAP.
If you are unsure and need more time, just let us know.
Girls who aren't registered, can still come to open gyms if they want to continue using them as a "trial" to see if this is something they really want to do.
Also, if cost is an issue, we can work around that as well.  The FGSA has always had a policy that all girls will be given a chance to play regardless of ability pay.

Note the (3) girls shown above with the asterisk (*) plan to try-out for the Middle School team.  They will be registered as 12U for now.  We are hoping to work out a way to extend the BCGSL 12A season from its usual end-of-May to  mid-June which would allow us to schedule most games after the Middle School season ends, and give the opportunity for these girls to play some, most or all of the FGSA 12U games.
14U ... (4) girls
Courtney Birckbichler
Mackenzie Hart
Hannah Kutz
Emily Pinnix
14U doesn't start until June, so plenty of time to form a full team.  Last year we got a large group of 12U girls "playing up".  Plus Muhlenberg doesn't have a 14U level, so we get a bunch of their girls as well.  When all is said and done, we'll have plenty for 14U team this summer.
