Save the date... FGSA Hits for CHARITY – OCTOBER 18th, 2014

Here is all the info for this year's event!

2014 Charity – Berks Special Olympics Softball Team and General  Fund

Dear Parent/Guardians:
On October 18th (rain date October 19th ) The Fleetwood Girls Softball  Association will host its second Coaches vs Kids Event! This is event is for ANY  child who played with the FGSA in the 2014 calendar year! This year the local  organization chosen to help (nominated by The Kaskey Family) is the Berks County  Special Olympics Softball Team and their general fund!
The purpose of the event is to officially end the FGSA calendar year as  well as raise money for an amazing cause! 50% of all proceeds for the event will  be given to the FGSA and the other 50% will be given to the Berks Special  Olympics Softball Team and their general fund. Last year’s event helped pay a  major portion of the NEW Scoreboard found at the Blandon Fire Company  Park!
We are looking for organizations that are willing to sponsor the event  (more information to follow on this) as well as companies willing to give  baskets for Chinese raffle.
We are also very excited to announce that this year we are adding  something new: a field event competition! Children in each age level (8U, 10U,  12U and 14U and the coaches) will compete for various skills in softball:  throwing accuracy, distance throwing, fielding pop flies, fielding grounders and  the fastest to first base. We are opening these events up to the community this  year! Girls from the community can play the events for $5.00 and all kids will  receive a participation ribbon. Community members must sign up before October 2,  2014. in order to participate.
Top two from each age group will receive a medal! In addition all FGSA  girls who participate during the Coaches VS Kids game will receive a  participation certificate after the game!
We know that the coaches work hard throughout the year and we want them to  experience this event without any worries. That being said, this takes away many  of our volunteers. So, we are asking, even if there is an adult that is playing,  that we still have a family member volunteer. Please see the list below for the  list of volunteer opportunities!
We look forward to seeing you and your child at the event as we raise money  for not only us but members of our community!
Please send the following information to Gretchen Manmiller  at, please place in the subject line “Coaches VS Kids” no  later than October 2, 2014. Child’s Name, Child’s Last Level Played (8U, 10U,  12U, 14U), Name and contact information (email and phone number) of adult  volunteering, first and second choice of time and volunteer  opportunity.
